A resume is also known as curriculum vitae or CV is a summary of your skills, education and work experience. A good resume demonstrates how your skills and abilities match up with the requirements of a job.

Many candidates do not know how to prepare a resume. They think that they just have to mention skills, information or work experience on a piece of paper. Many time I find some resumes very funny. Some people prepare their resume in such a way that they put irrelevant information and experience to the job applied for. An employer would like to see your resume with the following content.

Career objective: Although it is optional still it plays an important role in describing how serious you are for your career. This will reveal your thoughts and dedication towards your future career.

Personal Information: Personal information includes your full name, contact details such as an address, telephone number(s) and email address. For email address, create a strong email address that is more professional. Most job seekers, especially the fresh graduates, have a bad email address. So, make sure you use a professional email address.

Skills: Enumerate your skills. I would suggest you put your skills in chronological order. use the highest – lowest meaning that put your highest degree first. And for your experience section, put your current job first.

Work Experience: Start with your most recent job experience and work backward chronologically, listing the name of the employer, your job title, time duration, and of course your responsibilities, tasks, and achievements. Mention all work experience that you think is relevant to the job you are applying for.

Academic Record: This is very important for fresh graduates. Since they do not have enough experience to showcase it is very important to include their academic achievements in the resume.

Grammar and Spelling: Observe your grammar and spelling very carefully. You can hand over your resume to your best friend or colleague to check your resume.
